De omgeving is rustig, binnen hangt de opwinding haast voelbaar in de lucht. Aan tafel de vier mensen die samen Hedgehog Applications vormen: een klein bedrijf dat aan de vooravond lijkt te staan van een grote doorbraak voor het openbaar vervoer. Over pakweg een maand is duidelijk of ondernemer en uitvinder Arjan Heinen raak schiet. En met hem Arend Heinen, Marjanne Heinen en Maarten Klein Geltink. De trein kan die via de eigen motor omzetten in elektriciteit en \u2018teruggeven\u2019 via de bovenleiding van het spoor. Vanaf daar gaat de elektriciteit naar een enorme batterij, naast het station. En nu doet zich d\u00e9 kans voor. Momenteel wordt namelijk het busvervoer vanaf december 2020 aanbesteed, voor de volgende tien jaar. Een eis aan belangstellende vervoersbedrijven is het busvervoer zo schoon mogelijk te maken.\u00a0Binnenkort is duidelijk hoe de meedingende bedrijven dat voor zich zien. Niet zozeer vanwege de vraag of het ons lukt om het waar te maken.\u2019\u2019 Want daarvan is de familie-onderneming overtuigd: de techniek is van voor naar achter doorgerekend. ,,De spanning zit er meer in dat we nu afhankelijk zijn van andere partijen. Treinen rijden al op groene stroom \u2013 die zou nu dus dubbel benut gaan worden. Bovendien komt er veel minder fijnstof en CO2 in de lucht. En dan kan de energieopslag bij het station ook nog eens dienen als buffer om het elektriciteitsnetwerk van Nederland stabieler te maken. In feite een aaneenschakeling van batterijen die samen een mega-accu vormen. Daarvoor is een pand nodig van 40 meter lengte en 6,5 meter hoogte.\u00a0<a style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; background-image: none; background-position: 0px 0px; background-size: auto; background-repeat: repeat; background-attachment: scroll; background-origin: padding-box; background-clip: border-box; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(13, 77, 143); text-decoration: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/courage.nl\/\">De Apeldoornse architect Lars Courage<\/a>\u00a0is aangetrokken om daar een bijzonder gebouw van te maken. ,,Bijna een sciencefiction-machine. Onwijs leuk\u2019\u2019, vindt hij. De insteek is dat de aandacht vooral naar de techniek zelf gaat. De schetsen van Courage bevatten daarom veel glas, zodat het \u2018hart\u2019 van het gebouw zich laat zien aan voorbijgangers. ,,Net als bij Matchbox-autootjes; die zitten in zo\u2019n mooi doosje met een cellofaanraampje zodat je het autootje ziet. Voor verzamelaars m\u00f3et dat doosje er bij zitten. Zo willen wij ook hier de elektriciteit waar het om gaat, een podium bieden en tegelijk architectonisch iets neerzetten.\u2019\u2019 Dat laten zien wat er gebeurt, gaat misschien zelfs heel letterlijk plaatsvinden. Bijvoorbeeld met verlichting die gaat gloeien op het moment dat een trein binnenrijdt, of als de stroom vervolgens naar het energy house vloeit. ,,We willen het aansprekend maken. Hoe krijgen we ook bij de passant die niet weet wat hier gebeurt, een glimlach op het gezicht: \u2018hee, dat is gaaf\u2019.\u2019\u2019 De commissie ruimtelijke kwaliteit van de gemeente is enthousiast over de ontwerpen van Courage. Wat die crk betreft, pakt de gemeente het gebouw als aanleiding om het gebied tussen busstation, Saxion, Wittenborg en Fotovakschool helemaal te herinrichten. En daar een echt, mooi plein van te maken.
