- Modular and scalable

Transport sector
De Rooy Transport
The ChargeBooster is an innovative solution that ensures that De Rooy Transport’s lorries and trucks keep on moving, whilst at the same time keeping the costs low and the power supply sustainable and always available.
Flexibility
With the ChargeBooster, we offer De Rooy the flexibility to both fast-charge their trucks during a lunch break, for example (30-45 minutes), and slowly during the night. The ChargeBooster adapts to De Rooy’s operational needs, ensuring maximum availability and efficiency.
Low costs per kWh and km
The ChargeBooster is managed by advanced software designed to minimise the cost per kWh and per kilometre driven. This software continuously optimises the charging process, allowing De Rooy to make major savings on its energy costs.
By deploying the ChargeBooster, De Rooy Transport is taking a major step towards a sustainable, cost-effective future in the transport sector.
Electric buses.
Qbuzz
Qbuzz uses the ChargeBooster to ensure that its fleet of electric buses can continue operating without interruption. The ChargeBooster enables Qbuzz to quickly recharge while en route, extending the operational range and allowing buses to drive more often without having to stop to recharge.
2nd life batteries
We also implemented an innovative 2nd life battery solution that allows Qbuzz to give a second life to batteries that are no longer suitable for use in electric buses. We can now reuse these batteries in stationary applications, such as energy storage for solar panels. This reduces waste and extends battery life.
These initiatives by Qbuzz contribute to a more efficient and sustainable electric bus operation, which is fully in line with the company’s climate goals.

Transport sector
Brakenhoff
Brakenhoff is a transport company specialising in difficult-to-transport goods. They provide transport, storage and even on-site assembly. Together, we successfully secured European funding,
Grid connection
As one of the last companies on its business park in Beverwijk, Brakenhoff was granted a large grid connection. As part of this development, it was decided that Brakenhoff would take on a central role on the business park as an energy hub.
Other transport operators without a large grid connection can therefore make use of Brakenhoff’s charging infrastructure. This also influenced the choices made for both the software and hardware.
Our solution
We helped Brakenhoff design the charging hub. We installed a ChargeBooster solution and GridBooster, and adapted Sonic Core and Sonic View to meet their specific operational requirements.
The system is designed to charge between 6 and 12 rigid trucks overnight, when electricity from the grid is cheaper. During the day, the chargers are available for use by partners, while one charger remains available for fast charging.
Where possible, charging takes place using solar power, allowing Brakenhoff to benefit from the additional value generated through HBEs and EREs. The current set-up also enables participation in the energy market. Close integration with operational planning is essential for this. Brakenhoff’s own fleet always takes priority over energy-market trading and sharing the charging infrastructure with partners.
Electric flying
Teuge airport
Electric transport also has a future in aviation. With our ChargeBooster charging system, we are able to help this innovative sector to roll out.
The ChargeBooster is a powerful solution that enables fast charging. As a result, electric aircraft can be charged within a short period of time, significantly improving operational efficiency.
Solar Energy
In Teuge, the ChargeBooster is powered by solar energy, which means we are minimising CO2 emissions by using this clean, renewable source. By making the use of solar energy more effective, Hedgehog Applications contributes to a greener future for air travel.
We are very proud to be one of the first to participate in this exciting phase in the aviation industry. By offering the ChargeBooster, we are supporting the transition to electric flying and paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient and more sustainable future of air travel.

Project “MIGHT-e”
The “MIGHT-e” project has received funding for the following activities:
Megawatt corridor charging – Industrial-Grade, Grid-Integrated Highway Truck e-charging
To support the decarbonisation of the transport sector, sufficient charging infrastructure is needed to allow vehicles to recharge quickly along major transport routes, including the European TEN-T network.
High-power charging via Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS) along motorways is known as corridor charging.
The MIGHT-e project is developing an MCS solution specifically designed for the demanding conditions of corridor charging. The solution will be a fully integrated megawatt charging system, with uncompromising reliability, exceptional efficiency and industrial-grade robustness at its core.
Fundamentally different from the fragmented approach commonly used today.
Through the MIGHT-e project, a consortium of Hedgehog Applications and Van Meer will take a major step towards becoming a key player in the growing corridor charging market, with a Dutch solution developed in Arnhem.
Transport sector
Every truck deserves a charging
Through this project, Hedgehog Applications and its partners (Powercrumbs, Green Caravan, and A2 Truck Parking) are addressing the growing challenge of grid congestion with a smart, grid-independent charging facility designed for electric trucks.
The charging facility uses locally generated, fossil-free electricity. The aim is to achieve this through a unique combination of solar power and battery storage, supplemented by back-up power from locally produced biogas.
All components are connected to a dedicated DC microgrid and controlled by a smart energy management system (EMS) to optimise the use of renewable energy sources.
Hedgehog Applications’ role includes the development of the DC microgrid and the energy management system.
